The animated series HeMan and the Defenders of the Universe, launched in 1983, tells the story of Prince Adam and the kingdom of Eternia. The son of rulers King Randor and Queen Marlena receives the Sword of Power, an item capable of transforming him into the most powerful man in the universe.
Raising his sword and shouting “By the power of Grayskull,” Adam assumes the identity of a warrior named HeMan. Together with his faithful companion the warrior cat, the sorceress, Teela, Mentor and Gorpo, they fight against the forces of Skeletor, who wants to conquer the Grayskull fortress and rule over Eternia and the entire universe.
The character Gorpo comes from Trolla. Although he was a great mage on his home planet, his powers work in reverse on Eternia, causing confusion and comical situations throughout the story.

The character is one of the few who knows HeMan’s true identity and is by his side for several moments. Illustrator Bruno Moura used his Instagram profile to post a realistic photo of Gorpo and reimagine him in a liveaction film about the hugely successful animated series that was part of many people’s childhoods.
