One of the most recognizable characters in The Little Mermaid is the villain Ursula. She is the main antagonist of the 1989 film and its spinoff series based on the work of Hans Christian Andersen.
Your goal is to help unlucky newts achieve their goals. Originally, Ursula is depicted as a person with violet skin, white hair, and tentacles on her legs.
Its conception took place in several stages. First the idea was to show it as Cecaelia. However, the team decided to turn her into a strange fish. After watching a documentary about octopuses, they decided to add multiple arms to the character’s look.
Although Ursula is based on an octopus, she was also artistically based on drag queen Divine. His personality is described as dark and sinister, with a good dose of humor and a manipulative spirit.
Artist Hidreley Diao decided to reimagine what the character would look like if she were flesh and blood, while retaining all of her facial features. The result turned out really nice.
