end of honeymoon Avowed Lula voters, artists such as Mateus Solano, Thiago Lacerda and Sérgio Marone recorded a video saying they were disappointed with the first 100 days of the President’s government, particularly with regard to social and environmental policies. “The weather is over,” they announce. The testimonials are just over 2 minutes long and the images also feature artists such as Fe Cortez, Wagner Andrade, Larissa Maciel and Aline Matulja.
“The National Congress wants to destroy social and environmental policies in Brazil. Timeframe approved by Chamber. Dismantling the Atlantic Forest Act, in addition to weakening the Ministries of Environment and Indigenous Peoples. A true package of destruction,” says the opening section of the video (see below).
The group’s president was chosen because “he painted himself green, telling Brazil and the world that nature is our greatest asset.” The artists urge the public to put pressure on Lula “to do the right thing and respect our voice”. A petition to collect signatures must be submitted directly to the President in June.
“We know that, on the other hand, the rural population puts a lot of pressure on the government to assert their interests. On the other hand, we must also raise the chorus: we must be thousands asking.” “Environmental policy stands” for President Lula!” Solano wrote in the caption of the video he shared on his networks.
It is worth remembering that in September 2022 many famous people came together to try to influence the votes of the undecided and of those who would vote for Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in the last presidential elections.
In the original video, which had the chorus “Turn, Turn Vote, Turn, Turn, Turn,” the artists changed a gun sign with the hand, a nod to the former president, to an “L” for Lula. There was an excerpt in the lyrics that said every vote cast was for “Resistance and Hope.” “Look to the future, give a pencil and take the gun away from the kid,” explained another part.
Singers Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, Arnaldo Antunes and Mart’nália, and actors Alinne Moraes, Cláudia Abreu, Zezé Polessa and Bruno Garcia were some of the celebrities who took part in the viral.

“The mood is over. Do you know that bad feeling lingers when you think the worst is over?”
Yes, but then suddenly time turns. We elected this government because history has gone backwards four years. They used politics to let cattle pass while fires, deforestation, destruction of fauna and flora, and the massacre of tribal peoples swept through our forests. We elected this government because it went green, showing Brazil and the world that nature is our greatest asset.

A true package of destruction. These are measures that affect us all. And above all, they are breaking down the boundaries of indigenous peoples and sacrificing the lives of the true custodians of the forest. A change that will finally destroy our ecosystems.

Do the right thing and keep our vow. Sign now the petition being delivered direct to the President this month as we celebrate the environment. Only then can we really get into a party mood. Let’s go together”.
