Ellie Gonsalves has divided the internet after posting a list of 117 reasons why she doesn’t want to have children.
The Australian model and actress, 33, who is staunchly committed to being voluntarily childfree, posted the list on Instagram on Sunday and received a ton of reactions.
Her reasons included: hair loss after birth, the baby may poop inside you, your vagina will be different, your house will never be tidy, childbirth can cause rectal prolapse, and you miss out on things you love to do.
“I have already received hundreds of direct messages criticizing me and telling me how terrible and broken I am,” she wrote alongside the list.
“And while some of the things on my list are satirical, many are serious and factual. The social pressure when it comes to this issue is really questionable and, in my opinion, unfair to those who think differently.

“So much fear. It’s better not to have children if you’re going to teach them this anyway. My goodness there are so many self-centered people in this world,” one person commented.
“Why are people so worried?” It’s none of their business, it has no impact on their lives, and yet they’re so upset about it. The choice is entirely yours!’ another said.
Another wrote: “Don’t forget that you were once a baby and someone made the sacrifice so you could have life and experience the gift of life.”
“Children are the most incredible miracle and the future of humanity.” Of course, not everyone has to have children. But biology doesn’t lie: the female body was created to produce the gift of life.

Yet another commented: “Your ‘list’ of why you don’t want children is all negative, but what about the positives?” The positives completely outweigh the negatives. Of course it is a person’s decision whether they want to become a parent, but many of your lists were, in my opinion, very pointless reasons.”
“I never wanted children.” Now that I have them, I know why I didn’t want them. Now that they are here, of course I love them and do everything for them, but damn, everyday life is hard,” said one mother.
“People who force children on you are unhappy and want you to suffer like them,” wrote another.
“There are enough children in this world anyway, not every woman’s job is to procreate, sometimes we need ones like you with a really hot body, protecting and entertaining animals and doing a million other things,” another follower wrote.
“I find it hurtful when I see people feeling pressured into making this decision by friends, family and societal pressure.” “I know this all too well because I’ve felt it, most of my life For life,” Ellie wrote
Another said: “I’m with you.” I’m 40, I don’t have children and I never wanted children. I will be happy to be a mother of fur babies.
“A colleague once asked me, ‘If you don’t have children, who will take care of you when you’re old?’ I remember thinking (and still do) that this was a selfish reason, children to have.’
Another parent said: “Kids suck.” Period. Ask ANY parent who can be honest. They suck 80-90% of the time.
“Then a full 10% of the time, mostly when they’re sick and need you and aren’t sick, they’re sweet and cuddly, then it’s great to be a parent.” “If I were a betting woman, I wouldn’t have these odds assume.”
