“The Ballad of Travis Kelce”: Jimmy Fallon turns the athlete’s old tweets into a rap song – HuffPost

Travis Kelce’s old tweets have officially become late night material.

The NFL player, who is dating singer Taylor Swift and has recently had some of his obscure internet posts resurfaced, was celebrated for those tweets on Friday’s episode of “The Tonight Show” – with the debut of a new song, “The Ballad.” by Travis Kelce.”

“Travis used to tweet a lot. No, he wouldn’t stop,” rhymed Black Thought, a member of house band The Roots – before host Jimmy Fallon interrupted a typo-riddled post from Kelce about a squirrel: “I just gave a squirrel a piece of bread and it. “just ruined everything!!!!”

“Now this guy’s dating Taylor Swift and yeah, they’re dating,” Black Thought then rapped, only for Fallon to jump in with more from Kelce: “I had no idea they ate bread like that!! Haha #crazy.”

Netizens had dug up the Kansas City Chiefs star’s old posts on X, the platform formerly called Twitter, as his relationship with Swift increased his fame. Rumors of a possible romance began circulating months ago, and the two finally started dating in October.

“Sometimes they were simple and sometimes they were clever,” Black Thought gushed about Kelce’s posts on “The Tonight Show,” with Fallon proving that point with another old tweet: “I haven’t been there yet.” [restaurant chain Dave & Buster’s] … in 4ever.”

Amid all the Kelce and Swift gossip, the Ohio native chronicled what it’s like being with the megastar on his podcast. And while he noted in September that he wants fans to “respect both of our lives,” the relationship has inadvertently helped some of his most hilarious tweets come to light.

“The moon looks crazy tonight… I’m going to relax here for a bit and just imagine how successful the scenery is,” he tweeted in 2010.

Of course, on their show, Fallon and Black Thought were prone to similarly humorous contributions.

“Sometimes it was really deep. “The whole world he would inspire,” Black Thought rapped, before Fallon ended the couplet with another quote from the tight end: “The most powerful weapon on this earth is the burning human soul!”

The duo continued in call-and-response fashion, rapping, “Then he’d take it down a notch and keep things super light,” followed by, “I’m about to get Taco Bell!!!” And look what today evening is going on.

Kelce has stopped tweeting as much as he used to, although his podcast New Heights may now be filling that void. The NFL star, who “The View” host Joy Behar recently called “illiterate,” is certainly in a much brighter spotlight these days.

After Swift canceled a concert in Buenos Aires, Argentina, this month due to a predicted storm, she and Kelce stayed in their hotel room all evening, which he discussed on an episode of his podcast this week.

“The only night we had a chance to go to dinner was the night the show was postponed. “So we didn’t want to just drive around town and have fun like we didn’t care about the show,” he said. “So we made sure we stayed at the hotel and kind of kept to ourselves.”
