The battery industry in Mauricie and Centre-du-Québec excites Justin Trudeau –

Justin Trudeau met with mayors of Trois-Rivières, Shawinigan and Bécancour during the Liberal Party of Canada convention in Trois-Rivières. The topic of the battery sector in Bécancour seems to have taken up a significant part of the discussion.

During that meeting, Justin Trudeau said he found the Energy Transition Valley project “extremely exciting.” He also reiterated that the federal government would be present to support the region in this major growth phase.

Also present at the meeting was Energy Transition Valley’s President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Alain Lemieux.

Trois-Rivières Mayor Jean-Lamarche mentioned that this was an opportunity to remind the minister how important it is to have ministers from Quebec […] to have tenors in the region.

François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry and MP for Saint-Maurice-Champlain, also emphasized the importance of having more regional voices.

We benefit greatly from having as many regional representatives as possible who also sit at the cabinet table. Because that’s where the main directions emerge in the end.
