New Delhi, November 29 (Prensa Latina) A photography and music exhibition on the tradition and farming culture of Colombia will be held here today for art lovers in India who want to know more about Latin American countries.
At the opening of the exhibition entitled “Colombia, Land of Farmers”, which was attended by representatives of diplomatic missions from Mexico, Panama and other nations, the Colombian Ambassador to New Delhi, Víctor Hecheverri, emphasized that the snapshots represent the soul, the tradition and life show beauty of the South American nation’s central area, which is shared by the departments of Boyacá and Cundinamarca and which includes Bogotá, the capital.
He referred to the impressiveness of this country, but also to the conflicts that have existed for years over the preservation of this resource, from which more than 30 percent of the Colombian population lives.
He explained that the current government is working to strengthen the rights of Colombian farmers with a new agricultural law.
For her part, Consul Angelica Patiño explained to Prensa Latina that the exhibition represents the Cundiboyacense region, the center of the heart of Colombia, through cultural elements such as music, photography and the Ruana garment or poncho.
For this reason, in addition to a photo gallery with images of the most important landscapes such as the Colombian wilderness, the architecture and the cultural elements of the region, there are also performances by the band Los Rolling Ruanas in India, said Patiño.
This four-member group plays music mixed with rock and will represent the South American country at the Hornbill Festival in Nagaland in integrating modern and traditional, said the Colombian diplomat.
The group will also play at several centers in New Delhi and Bangalore, at the Bangalore International Centre, he said.
