The Biden administration rejects sending US troops to Ukraine following Macron's NATO proposal

After French President Emmanuel Macron declared within NATO that his country would examine the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine, The United States government expressed opposition to the initiative.

State Department spokesman Matthew Miller noted that President Joe Biden “made clear two years before the Russian invasion of Ukraine began: that he will not send American troops to fight on Ukrainian territory.

When asked about a possible debate on the issue within the Atlantic Alliance, Miller replied that there was “Every country is free to speak according to its own interests”although both Biden and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg have indicated there are no plans to send combat troops to Ukraine.

“The situation is currently extremely serious. We have seen Ukrainian front-line troops that do not have the necessary equipment to repel the fighting. They still fight bravely. “They still fight with courage” he explained.

Likewise, Miller stressed that the Ukrainian armed forces are “rationing” weapons, which is why he called on Congress to reach an agreement to break the political deadlock, which is fundamentally supported by the Republican wing, which calls for funding to be allocated to immigration policy first.

“We hope that the Ukrainian armed forces will continue to fight bravely for the rest of the year and continue to advance, as they did more clearly in the Black Sea.” but it will be much more difficult for them (without the help)”he insisted.

The authorities of several NATO member states this Tuesday ruled out sending troops to Ukraine in connection with the Russian invasion of the territory. including Spain, Germany, Finland, Poland and Sweden.

At a press conference in Paris following the Ukraine Support Conference attended by international leaders, the French president said that the country “will do everything necessary to ensure that Russia does not win this war.” even put the option on the table of deploying French troops to the frontat a time when Ukraine is losing positions due to a lack of ammunition and soldiers.
