The Block has become “the Danny Wallis show,” say Sharon and Ankur, as viewers erupt at the irreverent moment the eccentric millionaire turns his back on an auctioneer
For the third year running, quirky Melbourne millionaire Danny Wallis has bought a home on Channel Nine’s The Block.
And while some teams are grateful for his generosity, those whose traits didn’t catch the IT entrepreneur’s eye are less than impressed by his quirky antics.
Sharon Johal and Ankur Dogra, whose renovation was auctioned off, said The Block has become the “Danny Wallis Show” in recent seasons.
And they’re not the only ones who think Wallis has overstepped his welcome. Viewers are flocking to Twitter to complain about his disrespectful and “drenched” behavior after he turned his back on Dylan and Jenny’s auctioneer because he felt offended.

“The Block really is the Danny Wallis Show. If it weren’t for Danny Wallis, none of these homes would have sold,” Sharon told The Herald Sun.
“The first was between two guys bidding against each other and it was ego,” she added of the successful Omar and Oz auction, which pitted Wallis against Lamborghini-driving millionaire Adrian Portelli.
Dylan and Jenny were picked last in the auction order by Tom and Sarah-Jane to have won the power by scoring the most points throughout the season.

Much to her dismay, her auctioneer Damien Cooley angered Wallis by rejecting his $3.3 million bid because it was too far below the $4.08 million reserve price.
“You said before you’d take anything,” Wallis said when his offer was declined.
‘I said within reason and a respectable offer, and I don’t think that’s the case. I appreciate your offer, but it’s just too far from where we need it,” said Mr. Cooley.

Wallis, a veteran buyer at The Block, was then heard to say to people next to him that he “didn’t like” Mr Cooley and he was “ap***k” as he turned his back on the respected auctioneer.
Viewers criticized Wallis’ disrespectful behavior, with one calling him a “clown.”
“That’s why I usually tune in to the finale of The Block to see the auctions. Who is the actual clown bidding 33 cents? And now he’s turned his back on the auctioneer. What a soaking la la,” they tweeted.

The block auction proved a somber day for all but one team with two properties yet to be sold after the handover, while a third barely had reserves.
Omar and Oz walked away with $1.6 million after Wallis got into a bidding war with her “millionaire boyfriend” that forced him to buy the home for $5.6 million.
Wallis later admitted he spent “too much” on the property and acknowledged the bidding war had been just a clash of egos.
