In exchange, Missouri’s team got forward Zachary Dean, who currently plays for the Gatineau Olympiques.
Barbashev has struck 10 times and provided 19 assists for 29 points in 59 games so far in 2022-23. The 27-year-old skater could become an unrestricted free agent next summer. He is the fourth forward in the same contract situation the Blues have been trading in recent weeks. The top three are Vladimir Tarasenko (Rangers), Ryan O’Reilly (Maple Leafs) and Noel Acciari (Maple Leafs).
Dean was the skater selected by the Golden Knights in the first round (30th overall) of the 2021 draft. The Alberta native has 49 points in 38 games this season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
