The Boys season 3 first trailer shows Homelander doing damage control

The overpowered humans in Amazon’s The Boys are a danger in and of themselves, but Vought – the immensely powerful and ruthless mega-corporation that secretly created them – poses the greatest threat to the world. This has been evident since the very first installment of the series, and while it occasionally seems like the organization may be on the verge of getting its comeuppance, a new trailer for The Boys’ upcoming third season makes it clear that Vought is far from giving up.

The second season of The Boys detailed how Vought not only secretly exposed children to chemicals that would eventually produce the world’s population of superhumans, but also knowingly tricked a deranged Nazi into joining the Seven, their flagship team of superheroes. If the truth about Vought ever got out, you’d think the company would collapse immediately. But the Season 3 trailer shows that Vought is holding up pretty well, as Homelander (Antony Starr) does some damage control while promoting Vought’s upcoming movie about the seven.

Homelander appears on a variety of news channels to promote the film and distance himself from his anti-Semitic former teammate. Nothing about Homelander’s words rings particularly true because he says the same thing to every reporter he speaks to, and he’s always been prone to deception. But the way Homelander is apparently mentally breaking apart suggests the boys’ broader exploration of Vought’s self-destruction is ongoing.

Season 3 of The Boys is scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime on June 3rd.
