‘The Boys’ season 3 teaser trailer is full of sex and violence

Boys will be Boys.

The teaser trailer for the third season of Amazon’s raunchy superhero drama is below, and it’s full of the sex, violence, and mayhem that fans have been expecting, plus check out newcomer Jensen Ackles as Soldier.

The teaser was released during the South by Southwest panel for the series moderated by Christian Slater (who voices the character in The Boys Presents: Devilical anthology series). Showrunner Eric Kripke was joined by cast members Karl Urban, Laz Alonso, Jesse T. Asher, Chace Crawford, Karen Fukuhara and Ackles to discuss the upcoming season.

Karl Urban, who played rebel leader Billy Butcher on the show, teased that The Boys’ signature shock moments would continue. “I promise you’ve never seen anything like it in the history of cinema,” Urban said of one moment in the preview. “We’ve gotten bigger this season. It’s a fun, intense rollercoaster ride.”

“[The scene is] in the first 10 minutes,” added showrunner Eric Kripke. “It’s not just the craziest thing we’ve done, I think it’s the craziest thing anyone has ever done.”

Fans will notice that The Butcher has powers in the trailer, but that’s something the actors couldn’t discuss. However, Kripke revealed that the mysterious Black Noir will take off his mask for the first time in the new season. In addition, the new season “in subtle form” focuses on the Covid pandemic. And completely unprepared [the Trump] administration was. It’s like Homelander (Anthony Starr) always cares more about how something looks than it does about solving a problem… It’s about how some leaders need to act macho. We’re watching the world move towards World War III right now because there’s a guy with a tiny dick who’s trying to do something.”

Ackles, who stepped down from longtime CW favorite Supernatural, said he’s not quite ready for the jump into an R-rated streaming show. “Reading this script was eye opening,” Ackles said. “Somehow they managed to overcome the gerogasm [a storyline from the comics about a superhero orgy]. How they did it, I won’t say, but… damn it.

Kripke said filming will begin next month on the spin-off series set in college. “It still doesn’t have a name,” he says. “We are trying not to repeat ourselves at all, but to have it all in the same world. It’s about superhero kids at school, it’s realistic and violent, but like The Boys, it’s kind of about cops and robbers, and the college show is about relationships, but with our delivery, so there’s weird sex and all kinds of drugs.”

The teaser is dedicated to the song “Bones”, the first released track from Imagine Dragons Mercury’s upcoming release – Act 2.

The Boys follows a group of famous superheroes who abuse their powers for personal gain and a group of renegade criminals who are trying to overthrow them.

The Boys returns with eight episodes on Prime Video on Friday, June 3rd. Amazon will release three episodes on the day the show premieres, and then stream new episodes every Friday until the season finale on July 8.
