Brad Pitt could be the king. He was often spotted sporting a range of bracelets, both to accessorize a casual look and a movie premiere outfit. Timothée Chalamet, a fan of jewelry, also wears it often. Prince Harry, on the other hand, has worn bracelets since he was young. King Charles III even joined the club by flaunting a bracelet in his first portrait.
“The bracelet is a way to express yourself, to show your style and personality,” says men’s stylist Patricia Trépanier. According to her, the jewel accompanies the tendency to loosen up the style and to “more relaxed look”.
In a recent article, The Guardian newspaper even spoke of the ‘bro-celet’, a bracelet worn by both bankers and tech workers, which is said to signal a less conformist attitude towards work and life.
For those who want to take it on, Patricia Trépanier invites you to mix materials such as leather, metal or marble. His advice: stack a maximum of three and stick to one or two if you plan to wear them on the same wrist as a watch.
More choices
Recently, stores are offering a wider range of men’s bracelets, noted Patricia Trépanier, who previously had trouble finding them. His customers, often in their forties, want to follow the trend. “That’s a question for a lot of my clients, especially because they don’t have a huge range of accessories. »
Frédérick Robichaud and Jérémy Dumont sniffed out the deal shortly after starting their watch business. For the past three years, her company FJ – which offers a minimalist aesthetic – has offered several bracelets for men, as well as necklaces and rings. “The bracelet is our second most popular product,” emphasizes Frédérick Robichaud.
“Boys don’t know where to start [en matière de bijoux]. The bracelet is a good master key,” explains the former double cast candidate and future host.
For the necklace, many men are not willing to go there and the same goes for the earrings. The bracelet is subtle and goes well with a watch.

On the portrait of King Charles III. we see a braided bracelet on the monarch’s wrist next to a watch. Donated by the elder of the Achuar nation in the Ecuadorian Amazon, the jewel is a symbol of his commitment to the environment.
A discreet but supposed jewel
“Of course it’s discreet, but at the same time we advise men to roll up their sleeves to see the bracelet,” says Philippe Denis, lecturer at the ESG UQAM School of Fashion. So the message is to expect to wear them, to expect to layer them, to play with styles and materials. »
According to Philippe Denis, the trend is part of a broader phenomenon of gendered clothing segregation. “Playing with and breaking codes has made this return of men’s jewelry, and the bracelet in particular, possible,” he explains.

“We play with the boundary between male and female,” says the lecturer. For example, there are pearl bracelets for men that are advertised as loanable for the better half.
The jewelry offered by the FJ company can be unisex, explains co-founder Frédérick Robichaud, who believes that the craze for men’s jewelry is just beginning. “It changes a style. It’s also a way to take care of yourself,” he pleads.

“If we have strong models who start wearing it, especially men whose masculinity we don’t question, the population will appropriate it and it will enter the collective imagination,” believes Philippe Denis. David Beckham, Ryan Reynolds, Cristiano Ronaldo, Zayn Malik and Shawn Mendes also belong to the long list of bracelet enthusiasts.
Patricia Trépanier also believes that the population is becoming more and more accustomed to this trend, which can be seen “in films, series and on social networks”, she states.
And the bracelet may just be a step towards reinventing gender codes, believes Philippe Denis.
