The court of Modena, Italy, sentenced Brazilian transsexual Pamela Andress, 52, to four years and eight months in prison for the death of Italian Samantha Migliore, 35, during a failed breast aesthetics procedure in April this year.
Andress was found guilty of death as a result of another offence, in this case abusive practice of healthcare, and failure to render assistance. The defendant had no medical training for the procedure.
The conviction came after the Brazilian defense reached an agreement to end the trial quickly and was pronounced by a local court.
The case happened on April 21 of this year. Migliore underwent breast augmentation surgery at her home in Maranello but was unwell. Andress fled the scene and the victim’s husband, Antonio Bevilacqua, took his wife to a local hospital “with the syringes still in her breasts”.
“Within minutes she died in my arms,” Bevilacqua told local media. The Italian arrived at the hospital already lifeless.
Andress did not turn himself in to police until the next day and the defense always denied that she was careless in her behavior and said the client waited for the ambulance to arrive which the court refuted.
The autopsy revealed that Migliore died of a pulmonary embolism caused by silicone entering the lungs.
