The bullet-riddled window of a Montreal restaurant

More than fifteen people staying at a restaurant in the Saint-Laurent neighborhood of Montreal were shocked when the window was riddled with bullets.

The event targeting this deal took place on Deslauriers Street near Benjamin-Hudon Street around 3:45am on Sunday morning. The police were alerted by several emergency calls to the emergency number 911.

“According to initial information, a suspect fired shots in the restaurant window before fleeing in a vehicle before police arrived,” said Montreal Police Service (SPVM) spokeswoman Agent Caroline Chèvrefils.

Customers and employees inside were not injured, she said. They were received by the investigators who were collecting their testimonies.

Several firearm projectile impacts were observed in the shop window and shell casings were found on the floor.

“The scene has been protected for investigators and forensic identification technicians to analyze the scene and attempt to understand the precise circumstances of this event. The images from the surveillance cameras in the surrounding buildings are being checked by the police,” said Agent Chèvrefils.
