The second edition of “Extraordinary Enterprises”, held in Mexico City, recognized the practices of “outstanding social dimension” of five projects.

“The social dividend has been part of our company’s DNA for decades. And Luces de Esperanza, which has benefited thousands of people in the states of San Luis Potosí and Oaxaca to date, reflects that,” said the electric company’s CEO, Enrique Alba. The aim of the ceremony was to reward those companies that “set an example in building a more just, inclusive, responsible and sustainable country”.

With a budget of 100 million pesos, Luces de Esperanza has improved the quality of life of hundreds of families in the rural communities of Huasteca Potosina and Oaxaca since 2019, thanks to the installation of solar systems with batteries in homes, health centers, health facilities, schools and common areas. For its part, the 5 essential +1 campaign seeks to promote behaviors and attitudes aimed at reducing accidents of any kind among employees or people visiting the energy company’s facilities.

In the first edition, Iberdrola was recognized for the Pandemic Mitigation and Safe Return to Work Plan, a project it implemented in its facilities to respond to the challenges posed by Covid-19. This year, the awards included the participation of 104 companies and institutions that registered 137 programs divided into two levels: Good Practice and Exceptional Practice. President of the Board of Directors for the Promotion of Quality, Francisco X. Casanueva, affirmed that these badges serve to “motivate and empower other companies to be benchmarks in creating employee wellbeing, digital transformation, transparency and contribution sustainable development and strengthening of value chains”.
