The cancellation of Kanye Wests Grammys performance had nothing to

The cancellation of Kanye West’s Grammys performance had nothing to do with Trevor Noah, according to the source

Noah is also hosting next month’s Grammy Awards.

West’s derogatory social media post was in response to Noah, who expressed concern about the artist’s recent treatment towards his former wife Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend, “SNL” star Pete Davidson, during an episode of his show last week .

“You might not feel sorry for Kim because she’s rich and famous,” Noah said in the segment. “But what she’s going through is terrifying to watch and highlights what so many women are going through when they decide to leave.”

A source close to Noah told CNN that he had nothing to do with the cancellation of West’s performance and that he hadn’t had any discussions about West with producers or the Recording Academy, which is producing the show.

“Trevor never asked the Grammys to ban Kanye from performing. He wasn’t offended by Kanye’s Instagram post and Trevor responded on Instagram. The idea that Trevor or his team asked the Grammys to ban Kanye is ridiculous,” the source said.

CNN has yet to receive comment from the Recording Academy, and West has not commented publicly.

West is nominated for Grammys this year, including Album of the Year. It’s unclear if he plans to attend the ceremony.

Commenting on West’s Instagram post, which has since been deleted, Noah wrote a message of support for the musician, in which he wrote: “It breaks my heart to see you like this” and that his music had been an “indelible” part of his life.

Noah early Sunday morning tweeted, “I said advise Kanye not to cancel Kanye.” The news that West’s performance was dropped from this year’s line-up came as a bit of a surprise to his fans, considering he wasn’t among the first artists to announce last week awards were announced for the 64th Grammy. Additional performances will be announced in the days leading up to the show.

Artists set to take the stage include Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, BTS and Olivia Rodrigo.

The Grammys are scheduled to air April 3 on CBS.
