During interrogation of a Russian pilot captured by Ukrainian forces on June 18, the pilot revealed that he was a mercenary working for private military company Wagner and was paid a salary of 200,000 rubles [approximately $3,500 – ed.] a month.

source: Yurii Butusov, Editor-in-Chief of censor.net, a Ukrainian online news publication, on Facebook

details: The captured pilot is Andrey Fedorchukov, a Major in the Russian Air Force. He admitted to working for the private military company Wagner and being paid 205,000 rubles a month.

Quote from Butusov: “During interrogation, Fedorchukov said that the target of his attack was a fortress of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Previously, he had conducted bombing raids on Ukrainian cities. Fedorchukov hopes for a prisoner exchange, although he understands that because he is a mercenary, he may not be involved in prisoner exchange deals and could therefore be punished for his crimes.

It is interesting to note that Russian aircraft have significant navigational problems. Fedorchukov carried a Garmin navigator and a smartphone with the Pronebo app installed for more precise navigation than the navigators on board Russian Air Force planes.

Earlier: On June 18, the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade (named after the Black Zaporozhians) reported that they used an Igla Man-Portable Air Defense System (MANPADS) to shoot down a Russian Su-25 aircraft that was “loud and clear” on the hit the ground.”

The pilot of the downed Russian Su-25 fighter jet bailed out and was captured.
