The Université de Montréal Carabins’ perfect season continued with a 34-13 win over the Vert & Or on Saturday afternoon at the Stade de l’Université Sherbrooke.
The fight was presented on TVA Sports.
Head coach Marco Iadeluca’s team is now 5-0. This is the second straight win against the Vert & Or, who were pulverized 59-13 at CEPSUM last week.
In Estrie, Carabins quarterback Jonathan Sénécal remained true to himself. The pivot completed 15 of 26 attempted passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns. He also traveled 22 yards with his legs and was the victim of an interception.
Sénécal teamed with pass catcher Hassane Dosso on the first two majors of the day. The talented Frenchman finished with three catches for 101 yards.
Backup Rakim Canal-Charles scored two touchdowns on quarterback sneaks.
On defense, the Carabins managed two interceptions. Both times it was linebacker Mohamed Elshal who got his hands on the ball. These were the eighth and ninth steals for the Blues so far this year, a high on the Quebec Student Sports Network.
The Vert & Or, still hoping for their first win this season, had some good moments in the second half. The crowd favorite limited the strong Blues to just five points in the last two quarters.
Head coach Mathieu Lecompte’s club now benefits from a week’s break and will return to action on Saturday October 14th with a meeting with the Concordia Stingers.
The Carabins will look to continue their winning streak against the McGill Redbirds. This duel will take place next Friday at Percival Molson Stadium.
