A letter to the regional governor of Puno, Richard Hancco Soncco, confirms the club’s intention to move to the town of Juliaca for next season. The submitted document also requests a meeting with the authority. The institution chose the Guillermo Briceño Rosamedina Stadium in Juliaca as the venue.

“Preparation of the requirements required by the FPF for the club’s participation in this new championship. (…) We ask for a meeting with him with the aim of supporting us and granting us formal authorization to use the Guillermo Rosa Medina Stadium in Juliaca,” reads the writing.

The letter was sent to P. from the city of Andahuaylas on November 10thone. During this 2023 League 2 season, CYC Los Chankas played at the Los Chankas Stadium in Apurímac. This venue can accommodate 10,000 spectators.

Why can’t Los Chankas play in their stadium in Andahuaylas?

There is a dispute at Huancabamba Airport, the city’s airfield, which currently only hosts emergency and non-commercial flights. First, authorities must restore the airport so that national teams can land in the city. As an alternative, the Los Chankas board chose to move to the town of Juliaca, which is more than 4,000 meters above sea level.
