‘I’d love to do it’: The Chase’s Mark Labbett claims he’s been asked four times to audition for I’m A Celebrity but was turned down because of his weight
Over the past year, he’s gone through an incredible weight shift – he’s lost 10 stone.
But Mark Labbett – aka The Beast – has revealed his weight has stood in the way of new career opportunities as before.
At the National Television Awards, the Chase star, 57, told the Daily Star he’d been asked to compete on the ITV reality show ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ four times, but was rejected because of his weight.
Speaking of which, Mark Labbett – aka The Beast – has revealed his weight has been getting in the way of new career opportunities, as it has before
He explained: “I’m going a little crazy about it. Especially now that I’m the weight I am.’
Explaining why he thinks he was left out of the cast for the show, Mark added, “They’re really worried on ‘I’m A Celebrity’ about big stars that have closed. They don’t take into account the fact that for a guy like me, 3000 calories is a diet.
Mark told the publication: “I’d love to do it. I know I’m sure of one thing – they’ll never put me on a parachute!
“It’s just really annoying that they invite me in for an interview and then the weight is mentioned and I’m out.”

The slimmed down quiz genius previously explained that he has gone from size 5xl to 2xl but “still has work to do” on his figure.
Mark recently announced he’s landed a new job after being dropped from the US version of The Chase earlier this year.
He appeared on the American version of the game show from 2013 to 2015 and again in 2021 to 2022, but was dropped from the lineup before the third season.
Mark confirmed he was leaving the show back in March and has now announced that he is working with the Game Show Network, a US cable network.
Wow! The trimmed Mark showed off his incredible 10th weight loss in a glowing, shirtless mirror selfie (pictured right in 2017, before the weight loss).
A game show Twitter account posted that ratings for The Chase’s third series have dropped and prompted a fan to ask Mark to return.
They wrote: “The Chase had an alarming downturn for Season 3. It lost 33% of its demo (0.32) and almost 40% of its viewers (2.229 million average). Hopefully the last half of Season 3 goes better.”
One fan then replied: “Bring back @MarkLabbett!” to which Mark replied: ‘Too late, I work for GSN now :)’.
Mark hasn’t elaborated on which show on Game Show Network he’s affiliated with or when he first started working with them.
The TV star addressed his departure from the show earlier this year when he tweeted: “Sad not to be invited back but really excited about the new cast. I expect Brandon and Victoria to wow America!’
In another tweet, he added: “They just didn’t renew me. No reason was offered.’
Along with Shaun Wallace, Mark is the only original follower from the British series to have stayed with the show since it first aired in 2009.
