The Colts are overcome with shame

The arrival of quarterback Matt Ryan would allow the Indianapolis Colts to take the next step and become a team striving for great honors.

After two games in 2022, that doesn’t appear to be the case.

The Colts struggled to eke out a tie against the Houston Texans in the first week of action and were crushed seven days later. In fact, they were shut out 24-0 by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

“It was embarrassing,” DeForest Buckner told ESPN after the game. We have been humiliated. We need to get back to work, take the hits, and grow from that experience.

Ryan had a particularly tough matchup against the Jags. The 37-year-old quarterback obviously didn’t find the payzone and had three of his passes intercepted.

“I definitely had high expectations coming here,” he said. I didn’t think that after two games we would be 0-1-1. It’s just not in a conqueror’s mindset. This is where we are and I think it’s important to recognize that. It’s brutally honest.”

still much time…

The good news for the Colts is that they have 15 games left in 2022.

“As pathetic as it may seem today, compared to where we are and where we would like to be, we are not that far away,” said national coach Frank Reich.

“We have the players and the coaches for it. I know it won’t convince the outside world, but I’m fine with that. We take our meds, I take mine and we will continue to do what is right.”

However, Reich and his Colts must find a way to get their games started on time if they want to turn things around.

“We just weren’t productive in the first half,” said Reich. Our passes didn’t work, we couldn’t run the ball on the first and second try. I have the feeling that we didn’t run more than two meters in the first half. It was frustrating because to be successful we need to be efficient on the first and second failures.”

The Colts will try to find solutions and resume their season next Sunday when the mighty Kansas City Chiefs are at Lucas Oil Stadium.
