Catanzaro – “Good news for Calabria: ‘The Coming Year’, Rai’s New Year, will take place in Calabria in 2023 and 2024. The Commissioner at the time, Orsomarso, rightly explained that this intervention was intended to promote the image of Calabria as part of a more general plan to promote our region in train stations and airports. But I have watched and appreciated the criticisms and controversies of the last year with great attention. Many said: “But why should the image of Calabria be promoted through events outside Calabria?” Well, then I wanted to make sure that our image, that of Calabria, can be promoted in the rest of Italy with events accessible to Calabrians. Just like New Year’s Eve, which will be a big party with hundreds of artists, a party in which the Calabrians will take part directly in the squares of Calabria, but also many Italians who will turn on their TVs to wait for midnight. And I also got the opportunity from Rai to promote the image of Calabria in about 100 TV shows over the next two years. Important programs such as “Camper”, “Linea Verde”, “Uno Mattina”, L’educazione, “Linea Blu”, in short, the entire Rai program will include a piece of Calabria. Calabria often makes headlines in the news and on national TV channels about what’s bad about it, but luckily the bad about our region is a small part compared to everything else. And Calabria has exceptional resources and exceptional places to offer. We will do this through Rai for two years, bringing Calabria to the homes of Italians,” concludes Governor Occhiuto.
