The federal Conservatives are intensifying their attacks on the Bloc Québécois.
In a new commercial airing Tuesday, Pierre Poilievre’s party presents the bloc as Justin Trudeau’s accomplices on the carbon tax issue.
“Trudeau imposed it. The bloc wants to raise it radically,” says the ad, in which we can hear bloc MPs in the lower house claiming that prices should be increased.
“It is expensive to vote for the bloc,” the message concludes.
This intensification of Conservative attacks on the bloc comes as around 3,000 activists are expected to attend the Conservative Party of Canada’s national convention in Quebec on Thursday.
According to the latest poll conducted by Abacus Data from August 18 to 23, the Bloc Québécois dominates voting intentions in Quebec with 33% of the vote.
The Liberals are favored by 28% of Quebecers surveyed, the Conservatives by 21% and the NDP by 10%.
The rising cost of living has been Pierre Poilievre’s favorite topic in his attacks on his political opponents for months.
After raising more money in the first three months of 2023 than all of its opponents combined, the Conservative Party has been leading an advertising offensive across Canada for several weeks.
The Conservative Party’s national convention will take place Thursday through Saturday at the Quebec Convention Center.
