The case
In April, photos of Marília’s autopsy were published in WhatsApp groups, intended exclusively for police investigations. That same week, the PCDF (Federal District Civil Police) arrested the suspect for publishing the images, a resident of Santa Maria in the Federal District.
During interrogation, André confessed that he had published the criminal content on Twitter The social network also had to block the defendant’s profile, with a twoweek delay.
In the same month, the MPDFT (Public Ministry of the Federal District and Territories) registered the suspect and in May he became a defendant. In addition to the crime of defamation of a corpse, André is tried for crimes against religious feelings and respect for the dead, crimes against public security and attacks on the security of public utility services, etc.
He is also responsible for the use of a false document, crimes of prejudice and racial, color and/or ethnic intolerance — On the Twitter profile where he published photos of Marília Mendonça, he also posted racist posts and advocated National Socialism.
