MOSCOW, June 8 (Portal) – Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero will address today the Intergovernmental Council of the Eurasian Economic Union (UEE) taking place in Sochi, where he previously met his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin.
At the meeting the day before, Mishustin stressed that Cuba is an important partner for his country in Latin America and that cooperation between the two is based on solid traditions of friendship, solidarity, mutual respect and mutual trust.
He also suggested increasing cooperation in the field of tourism, reminding that next month Aeroflot will start operating regular flights to Cuba.
Marrero, in turn, rejected the United States’ unilateral sanctions against Russia and stressed that it was time to work together to further strengthen ties in the face of American attempts to establish their total hegemony around the world.
Earlier, the Cuban leader led the Caribbean state’s official delegation that visited the biomedical laboratories at Sirius University of Science and Technology.
The Cuban side appreciated the potential of cooperation in the field of scientific research, as well as the possibility of creating joint educational programs.
The prime minister pointed out that an information campaign aimed at demonizing Cuba had begun in the United States at the end of the Cuba-Russia Economic Forum in May.
Marrero will be in Russia until June 17, because after attending the session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, he will complete a program in Moscow, later to attend the International Economic Forum in Saint-Petersburg.
