The Drakkar reaches the 40 win plateau

After another intense series of three games on three away days, the Drakkar finally completed their trip with a record of two wins and one defeat. The undisciplined Ship Vikings (the league's most penalized club) suffered the consequences of a 4-0 loss to the Voltigeurs on Thursday. However, the cumulative leader bounced back with wins of 6-1 and 2-1 (in overtime) against the Remparts to become the first team in the QMJHL to surpass the 40-win mark after just 50 games this season.

After being diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, defenseman Émile Chouinard paused his hockey career to pursue treatments to combat the disease. The big number 15 still used his last game on Saturday in Quebec to reach the plateau of 200 games played in the QMJHL.

What they said

“It is a journey with many emotions. It's a beautiful tribute that we pay to Émile. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it, but we will always be there to support it. We had fewer legs in our third game, but good clubs often find a way to win.”

– Captain Isaac Dufort

“It is nice to see the solidarity of other organizations towards Émile. The Drummondville game was more difficult and will serve as a learning experience. The boys found a way to come back.”

– Head coach Jean-François Grégoire
