Byron Bay influencer Ruby Tuesday Matthews was slammed on Friday for complaining about not being able to drop off her bags after arriving at the airport late before a flight.
Ruby, 29, shared a series of Instagram posts from the terminal, showing her luggage and insisting she was just “two minutes late” for baggage claim.
The model said she checked in before the flight, but couldn’t believe the airport staff refused to let her drop off her bags as she was traveling with her children.
Ruby has previously made headlines for her airport antics, and in 2020 she held up a delayed Jetstar flight when she treated herself to oysters at a fancy restaurant – and then complained when she was hassled by frustrated passengers.
“Two minutes late at baggage check and they wouldn’t let us check our bags. Our flight didn’t board or leave, but we don’t board even though we’re checked in,” she began on Instagram on Friday.

“Of course someone traveling with two children would simply be checked in three minutes late, but whatever. Especially when the airport is the size of an ant airport.”
“Oh, and for the record, we’ve already checked in, we just had to drop off our luggage. Update that we were taken to the next flight for free by the hostess who is really nice,” she added.
However, Ruby drew the ire of social media users on Friday after an influencer sleuth account called Influencer Updates Au reposted her stories.

Journalist Melissa Hoyer wrote underneath: “Um. you leave a little earlier And slam the phone for a minute. It is not that hard.’
“It’s not difficult to get there on time, it’s your own fault. Everyone knows things with kids take more time so she should have been better prepared. Seems to be her problem tbh,” added one user.
One airline worker remarked: “Work for an airline and no! The bags take 25 minutes to be checked and get to a plane, which delays it and costs an airline a lot of money. That’s why baggage check-in closes [minus thirty minutes] to each domestic flight departure.’
Another added: “If you are traveling alone with children you are not entitled to extra check-in time. Flights are on a schedule for a reason, and there is a baggage blackout period for a reason as well.”
However, one follower sided with Ruby, saying if it had happened to a mother who wasn’t an influencer, she wouldn’t get the “legitimate tag” and people would “pity her.”

In October 2020, Ruby came under fire after holding up a delayed Jetstar flight while indulging in oysters at a fancy restaurant – and then complaining when she was hassled by frustrated passengers.
She was scheduled to fly from Byron Bay to Sydney in the afternoon, but a technical problem caused the flight to be delayed.
Jetstar asked travelers to remain at the airport while they flew an engineer over from the Gold Coast, telling passengers the new departure time was expected to be around 7.30pm that evening.

Ruby and her travel companion decided to leave the airport to eat at a beach restaurant while others were eating at the airport.
The mother-of-two later posted a video to Instagram of herself eating oysters with a friend, captioning the footage, “Flight delayed, damn my life.”
She left frustrated passengers waiting on the tarmac, who harassed her as she boarded 30 minutes after the plane was scheduled to take off.
Video footage shows passengers yelling “How were the oysters” and “What a day to be pretty” as they board the plane.
As the two enjoyed their meal, staff at the airport were told the engineer had arrived earlier than expected and the flight would board at 6:20pm instead.
But passengers had to sit on the tarmac as Jetstar attempted to locate a group of missing passengers, including Ruby and her pal.
It is understood a staff member had to call her to tell her the plane was ready to depart and she needed to get back to the airport as soon as possible.
When a passenger asked if the oysters were good, Ruby replied, “Yes, they were.”

The social media star then argued with the other travelers, telling them it was an “innocent mistake” and that they were being rude.
The influencer later took to social media, where she blamed Jetstar for the incident and claimed staff did nothing to help her.
Ruby wasn’t the only passenger who had left the airport.
Before another late passenger boarded the plane, a flight attendant informed travelers that the other woman would be arriving shortly and asked everyone to remain calm once she arrived.
In her tirade, Ruby blamed Jetstar for what happened and urged the other passengers to “grow up.”
“I had a pretty traumatic flight experience, thanks to Jetstar, you keep surprising me,” she began.
“I’m sorry but it really wasn’t my fault…we were told it would start at 7.45pm, I hadn’t eaten since my smoothie that morning because I was in back-to-back meetings.
“I was like, ‘Fuck it, I’m going to get food from the airport, it’s two hours until our flight leaves, I’m going to go’.
“I walked out, I didn’t hear the second announcement, which seemed to say, ‘Don’t leave the airport.’
“I didn’t hear that, I swear to God I wouldn’t have left the airport, I’m not an idiot, I have respect for everyone else.”
She claimed she was met with “very personal comments” as she boarded the plane.
“I was basically being bullied by about 7 to 10 to 14 people at different times, then they would make comments about my kids. No Jetstar employee has ever stopped this. I caught it hard for about 15 minutes.
“I was scared for myself because number one, I was alone… Number two, no one later than me committed any abuse, it was just me alone.”
“I can handle it, I literally said, ‘Guys, go for it, I finish this every day, it’s just another damn thing.’ But one day there’ll be another girl who’s not as strong as me, and they’re going to get on that plane and they’re going to be okay with it and they’re going to get off the other end and they’re going to kill themselves.
“Just be nice people. To the one guy who was nice to me, thanks. To everyone else – grow up.
“I missed stuff too, I understand, but that wasn’t my fault, it was a real mistake, there’s no need to be upset because I have the flu, I mean I’m an influencer.”
