In a press release, the Quebec company Cavalia explains that it “attempted to negotiate” with the city of Laval, but the city did not agree to extend the agreement that would have allowed the event to continue in Laval. .

The current edition – the fifth – ends on January 7th. This is therefore the “last chance” to take advantage of this activity, which allows visitors to discover, by car or on foot, 19 paintings illuminated by 25 million LED lamps. Since its first edition in 2019, Illumi has attracted 2 million visitors.

At the same time, Cavalia announced that Illumi will be presented in Los Angeles, California, after Laval and Toronto, and that details will be announced after the holiday season.

Carre Laval

The city of Laval explains that the 2019 agreement planned to release the land by September 2024. The land in question belongs to the city and will house Carré Laval, “a mixed innovation district” with a carbon-neutral goal including a park, a body of water and real estate projects.
