The end of purgatory for these former Blackhawks leaders?

Barring anything unexpected, National Hockey League (NHL) Commissioner Gary Bettman will meet with former Chicago Blackhawks head coach and former Chicago Blackhawks general manager Joel Quenneville and Stan Bowman in July to discuss a possible return to work.

According to the TSN network on Tuesday, the two men standing on the sidelines requested an interview with the league’s big boss. As the same source reported in May, Bowman has spoken to NHL rosters while Quenneville’s name has been mentioned in some rumors. Getting a job at an NHL club requires Bettman’s approval.

The Brad Aldrich scandal surrounding the former assistant who allegedly sexually assaulted Hawks player Kyle Beach in 2010 led to Bowman’s resignation in 2021. Quenneville, for his part, resigned as head coach of the Florida Panthers that same year. The actions alleged against Aldrich took place in the spring of Chicago’s first Stanley Cup win of the decade in 2010 while working with the big club.
