The FBI “did not investigate Prince Andrew’s links to pedophile Jeffrey Epstein because he is a member of the royal family,” the lawyer for the victims of a billionaire sex offender claims in a new US documentary
- FBI didn’t investigate Prince Andrew because he was a royal, says Epstein victim’s attorney
US security services have not investigated Prince Andrew’s links to pedophile Jeffrey Epstein because he was a member of the royal family, a lawyer representing victims of the billionaire sex offender has claimed.
Attorney Lisa Bloom told the upcoming US documentary Secrets of Prince Andrew that the FBI has taken no action against witnesses who may be questioned about the Duke of York’s possible links to Epstein.
Ms Bloom, who represents five of Epstein’s victims and is a witness who says she saw Andrew as a teenager with accuser Virginia Giuffre, said it had been decided that the “highest level” had decided not to “settle” the prince pursue,” reports the Mirror.
The lawyer was reportedly puzzled that Andrew’s infamous interview with Emily Maitlis on BBC Newsnight in 2019 was not used by the FBI because he said things “that they could probably refute”.
In the now-famous interview, Prince Andrew claimed he was at a “Pizza Express in Woking” when he allegedly had sex with then-17-year-old Virginia Roberts, as she was then known, on March 10, 2001.

The Duke also claimed he couldn’t sweat because of an “adrenaline overdose” following his deployment in the Falklands War, as evidence that he didn’t sweat on a dance floor because of Ms Giuffre.
Andrew also refused to speak under oath to investigators after they reportedly requested an interview with the UK government.
Speaking to US documentary Secrets of Prince Andrew, Ms Bloom said: “The FBI has clearly decided that it will not pursue Prince Andrew.”
She questioned whether the high-level decision was made out of fears of diplomatic issues and strains on relations with the UK.
Ms Bloom said she believed the investigation would have continued “if it had involved someone who was not royal”.
The attorney told the documentary that if the FBI was investigating another individual, they would have spoken to witnesses and extradited them to the States to be “tried” if they found enough evidence.
She also called Prince Andrew “devastatingly arrogant” for choosing Newsight just three months after the death of 66-year-old Epstein in his prison cell.
Andrew would have thought the public would “see how wonderful I am,” Ms Bloom claimed. But she said the interview had the opposite effect.
Ms Bloom was reportedly puzzled that Andrew’s infamous interview with Emily Maitlis on BBC Newsnight in 2019 was not used by the FBI because he said things “that they could probably refute”.
Ms Giuffre claimed Prince Andrew sexually abused her when she was a minor. So if he had been found guilty in a court of law, “he could have spent many years in prison,” Ms Bloom said.
She said the interview “could be used in court” and was a “disaster” for the prince, claiming the FBI could “probably” prove them untrue.
And while also addressing Ms Giuffre’s 2021 lawsuit against the Duke of York, which accused him of rape and sexual abuse, which he has strenuously denied, she said he lost “in a big way”.
Andrew settled out of court for an alleged £12million but admitted no liability.
