This good news comes just days after the feature film was screened in the official competition in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, to over 1,200 viewers. The day after this world premiere, “The Red Rooms” received rave reviews from several international media outlets, including The Hollywood Reporter, Screen International and Deadline Hollywood.
“The strong public reception and rave reviews bode well for an exciting future for The Red Rooms. It’s a relief: I’m proud of the film – I would even say it’s my best film yet – but you never know how it will turn out. This first international acquisition in French-speaking Europe is an important vote of confidence… and we’re working hard to ensure that this is just the beginning!” said Pascal Plante (Nadia, Butterfly) in a press release issued on Tuesday.
Described as a psychological thriller, The Red Rooms follows two young women (Juliette Gariépy and Laurie Babin) who obsessively follow the high-profile trial of a serial killer. After being presented in Karlovy Vary last week, the film will be presented on July 20 at the opening of Montreal’s Fantasia festival.
The film will be released across Quebec on August 11th.
