Warning: spoiler alert!

The eighth and final episode of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power arrived in the catalog of Amazon Prime Video this Friday (14) with big revelations. Along with unraveling some of the mysteries surrounding the stranger’s identity, the chapter finally revealed who he is. Sauron.

Since the beginning of the series, fans of the work of JRR Tolkien were excited to see how the production would feature the big villain Lord of the rings in the narration. Many candidates were named in the discussions (including the young ones norifrom the group of hairy feetwas a suspicion), but perhaps none of them, with the exception of Meteor Man, were more intriguing than half border.

The final episode of the series reveals that Halbrand is Sauron.

played by the actor Charlie Vickersthe character was initially presented as a lost heir to the throne southern countries. But his evasive statements were always a source of suspicion, which was proven true in the latest episode of The Rings of Power.

This because Halbrand is actually the Dark Lord, or Sauron to his familiars.the one who caused the complete chaos in the middle earth. The most avid fans certainly managed to catch the revelation in his first interaction with Celebrimborreferring to Tolkien’s writings about Annatar, Lord of Giftsthe way Sauron manipulated the ruler of Eregion into initiating the smiths of the famous Rings of Power.

But the great revelation, although not appearing in all the letters, comes through suspicion Galadriel, who was surprised by Halbrand’s approach to Celebrimbor. After some investigation, it is the elf who manages to discover the true identity of the man who saved her at sea, only to be tempted by him with offers of power and glory. Galadriel stands by what she believes, and Sauron goes about it mordorwhile the first three Rings of Power are finally being forged.

Actor Charlie Vickers was unaware that Halbrand was Sauron when filming began.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actor Charlie Vickers, who we can now call the interpreter of Sauron, commented on his character’s dual identity and explained that he didn’t know this secret when he started recording the series.

Vickers said:

“I didn’t really know until the beginning of the third episode. We shot the first two chapters and then had to stop because of the Covid19 pandemic. At the end of that break, the producers told me. So I filmed those opening sequences on the raft without knowing it. I wholeheartedly recorded as a semirim. But I had a feeling [sobre Halbrand ser Sauron]if I’m honest […]“.

Charlie didn’t give too many details about the background to the construction of his journey, but assured that questions will be asked about how Sauron got there “will be answered over time”. The actor also commented that in the current moment of the series, it’s like the villain is in one “Regret Phase”something Tolkien himself states the silmarillion.

Of course, as much as he says he wants to build something better and escape his past, all of this can of course also be a tactic to buy more time and thus show his claws. As for season two, Vickers says we’ll start to see “Sauron as he is”.
