The final episode of Attack On Titan is finally on its way

Attack on Titan, arguably the shonen anime of the decade due to its exceptionally strong start in 2013 and noticeably drawn-out final season, finally has a release date for its final episode.

Fortnite has completely mastered the Attack on Titans exciting move

According to a post on Attack on Titan’s official website, Attack on Titan The Final Season Part 4 (renamed Attack on Titan: The Final Chapters Part 2 on Crunchyroll) will premiere in Japan on November 4th. While a release date in the US has not yet been set yet, it’s probably safe to assume that the premiere will land on streaming services like Hulu and Crunchyroll shortly after that date, as has been the case with previous “final” season releases .

An explanation of Attack on Titan’s complicated final season

Although Attack on Titan reached new heights with fans with its more mature and morally gruesome shift into a political drama about freedom through genocide (including fascist subtexts), many fans felt their excitement waning due to the series’ drawn-out finale to the season. It’s hard to blame them considering the show has been “over” for almost three years now. Allow me to metaphorically pull out a bulletin board and a string to explain the logistics of Attack on Titan’s final season.

The fourth season of Attack on Titan, renamed Attack on Titan – The Final Season in the US, aired for 16 episodes in 2020 before concluding with Attack on Titan The Final Season 2″ into a second part, with 12 more episodes airing in 2022. To stretch things out even further, Studio Mappa announced that it would be splitting its anime adaptation of creator Hajime Isayama’s manga into two-hour special episodes titled “Attack on Titan – The Final Season Part 3” (also known as “Attack on Titan The Final Chapters”), which will have its penultimate part (stay with me now) on March 3rd of this year on Crunchyroll and Hulu released. The upcoming final season of the series is reportedly known as “Attack on Titan – The Final Season, Part 3”, in Japan as “Second Half”, or in the US simply as “Attack on Titan – The Final Chapters, Part 2”.

Do you have all of this? NO? Well, I can’t blame you, because the naming conventions and staggered releases of the final season of Attack on Titan are all messed up. The most important takeaway here is that the actual final episode is coming very soon. They’re finally bringing this to a close.

Time will tell whether the lengthy wait for Attack on Titan – The Final Chapters Part 2 will weaken AoT anime-only viewers’ affinity for the series, just as the controversial manga ending did the series’ legacy with readers in 2020. In the meantime, fans can watch the English dub of Attack on Titan The Final Chapters Part 1 on Crunchyroll and Funimation.
