Throughout its history, Peruvian soccer has welcomed soccer players of different nationalities. Argentines, Colombians, Brazilians and Uruguayans are fixtures in our football. But there are also players who came from far away countries and made history on their way through our little ball. One of them is Thabiso brownselected from Lesotho, who was defending the shirt of Pirate FC and denied that league 2.

Thabiso Brown and her time in the Highlands

Thabiso Brown was born on October 3, 1995 in Mohale’s Hoek, a town 100 km from Maseru, the capital of Lesotho. At the age of 20 he made his debut with Kick4Life FC in the first division of his country. He quickly excelled in his domestic league, scoring 17 goals, which put him second in the goalscoring chart. As a result, he was called up to his team and he debuted on June 14, 2016.

In search of new challenges, he carried out tests in European clubs – without success Chornomorets Odessa from Ukraine and St Andrews FC from Malta. After being rejected by these teams, thanks to the recommendation of a Cameroonian friend, he decided to try his luck in Bolivia. This is how he came to the Young Capable of Succeeding in 2017 (JCDT) of the Oruro Football Association (AFO).

According to Bolivian media, Brown stated that his arrival in Bolivian football was the result of a hoax. “They told me I was going to a first division club and if I could score goals I could go to Europe or Mexico. But that wasn’t what I had in mind. The club that was expecting me was from the third league,” he said.

In the AFO he also defended the jackets of Sport South Auto j Mining Company Haununi. With that last club he scored 30 goals in 20 games. It was that even though he was playing in a promotion league, he was gradually being recognized. Unfortunately, the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic led to the cancellation of the Bolivian third division side.

In October 2020, the Lesotho player caught the attention of Pirata FC from Peru’s Liga 2. He played seven games with the filibuster line-up, scoring just one goal against Cultural Santa Rosa on December 7. Brown did not remain in the Leonardino cast the following year and was forced to return to Bolivia.

The Huanuni Mining Company opened the doors for him again to play the Simón Bolívar Cup. Although Brown failed to achieve promotion with his club, he excelled and was signed by Aurora from Premier League. He was loaned to Real Oruro by the AFO in June and returned this year to Aurora, a club with which he scored his first goal in the top division a year ago – on February 27, 2022.
