It’s already starting in Quebec. Forecast.
A big paradox
Southern Quebec is preparing to experience a series of intense heat beginning in the first days of September. However, a low in the atmosphere caused temperatures to drop, especially at night. In the south of the province, the mercury approached freezing, while lows of less than 5°C were observed, particularly in the Lower Laurentians. Further north the cold was even more bitter.
The earth freezes
Frost begins to appear in Quebec. In fact, the minimum reached -1°C in La Grande on August 30th. On the night from Wednesday to Thursday, Lac Benoît recorded -1.9°C. Meanwhile, snow fell on the outskirts of Quebec, on the Labrador side. These flakes may have spilled onto the Lower North Shore land. Note that the first snowflakes arrive on average around September 1st in Canada and around September 11th in Quebec.
It’s already snowing
Models suggest snow could fall in northern Quebec. Certain areas north of Kuujjuaq would receive their first snowflakes this season. These first signs of winter appear in the northern regions in early September. However, in the most populous regions of the province, the first snow does not fall on average until October.
