(Montreal) Quebecers will see the first snowflakes of the winter season appear this week, according to Environment Canada, but some regions are already under a white carpet as of Monday morning.

For the greater regions of Montreal and Quebec, the first snowfalls are expected on Wednesday with the passage of a system from Texas.
However, in a special weather report released early Monday morning, Environment Canada qualified that near-freezing temperatures make it too early to comment on the expected amount of snow.
This bulletin affects most of southern Quebec. For the eastern sectors of the province, however, a white carpet had already been laid on Monday.
In Sept-Îles, for example, 12 inches of snow fell on Saturday after Tropical Storm Nicole, according to data provided by Environment Canada on Sunday.
Snow warnings were also issued Monday for many areas of the North Shore and Bas-Saint-Laurent, including Matane, Minganie, Rimouski and Mont-Joli.
Environment Canada warns that “significant snowfall” is expected on Monday, up to 15 centimeters in places.
“Adapt your driving style to the changing road conditions. Rapid snow accumulation could make travel difficult in some areas. In heavy snow, visibility can sometimes be suddenly reduced,” says Environment Canada.
police on guard
With the onset of winter, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) also issued a press release to remind police that police could issue insults if they found that a motorist’s speed was not appropriate to the road conditions, even if the speed limit was exceeded indicated on the traffic signs is complied with.
“Offenders face a minimum fine of $60 plus costs and two penalties,” warns the SQ.
In addition, road users must clear their vehicle of snow and ensure that the windshield, windows, headlights and license plate are free of ice and snow, explains the SQ.
In addition, owners have until December 1 to equip their vehicles with winter tires.
