The foreign ministers of India and the United Kingdom met

During the talks, Jaishankar said bilateral ties are showing significant progress, although much remains to be done, All India Radio reported.

The India-British relationship was upgraded to a full strategic partnership during the virtual summit between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his British counterpart Boris Johnson on May 4 last year.

Truss will also participate in the inaugural India-UK Strategic Futures Forum, a dialogue organized by the Indian Council for World Affairs and Policy Exchange, the foreign ministry said in a statement.

This is the second visit to India by the UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs and the Minister for Women and Equality since the virtual summit.

Truss’ journey will also serve to deepen the partnership in various sectors such as trade and investment, science, technology and innovation, defense and security, climate cooperation, education and digital communications.

The UK Chancellor is trying to include India in the anti-Russian front formed by the Western powers.

Russia launched what President Vladimir Putin called a special military operation in Ukraine’s Donbass Autonomous Region on February 24 after authorities in the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics requested help to repel aggression by nationalist forces.

The United Kingdom, the United States, the European Union and other NATO allies have imposed economic and financial sanctions on entities, businesspeople and organizations they deem affiliated with the Kremlin.

New Delhi is reluctant to join the anti-Russian rhetoric promoted by Western powers, instead urging the parties to the conflict to resolve their differences through dialogue.
