With her tiny glasses and her hair almost completely shaved – instead of her long dreadlocks – Nerva Lovinski was unrecognizable when she appeared at the Montreal courthouse this Friday.
But to the trained eye, it was actually the gang leader who had lit up the world of child prostitution in the country’s capital in the early 2000s.
And it was the same person who was wanted for a double homicide that occurred on Christmas Eve 2018 in the Saint-Léonard neighborhood of Montreal.

The homicides occurred at the drug dealer’s home.
The flight went wrong
That day, a group of individuals set out to rob drug dealer Davis Arbor. However, he had resisted, so one of the attackers pulled out a gun to fire in his direction.
Davis Arbor, 38, was fatally shot but the gunman also shot his own accomplice, Marc Hilary Dasilma.

Fodil-A. Lakehal, convicted
not found
According to the police investigation, Lovinski acted as the driver on this adventure and helped Lakehal leave the scene. However, there was not enough evidence at the time to charge him. It wasn’t until 2021 that an arrest warrant was issued for him after authorities gathered enough evidence to be satisfied the former pimp knew about the scheme and could reasonably be expected to go awry.

According to the lawsuit, the robbers were looking for the trafficker’s loot.
However, Lovinski was nowhere to be found at that moment. In fact, he had turned his back on them shortly after the double murder, so investigators had never been able to question him. And his will to evade justice became clear a few months later when he failed to appear in court in another case.
Even in November 2019, when he had to provide his personal details as a sex offender, he failed to report to the police. This had earned him further criminal charges and he has been wanted ever since.
However, his run ended around noon last Thursday when he was finally handcuffed.
The circumstances of his arrest have not yet been disclosed to the court, nor has the location where he may have been hiding for the past four years.
But regardless, the Crown now wants him to remain in custody pending trial for the Arbor and Dasilma murders. Lovinski will return to court for further trials on Monday.
