The two teams traded goals in the first two periods, but a numerical advantage at the start of the final period changed everything. In fact, Carter Verhaeghe took advantage of a rebound from a shot by Sam Reinhart and gave his team a 4-3 lead.

Additionally, Reinhart had a great afternoon of work, scoring two goals and two assists. Defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored the first goal just 39 seconds into the game before adding an assist almost 11 minutes later.

Connor Bedard flashed the red light twice in his defeat. The first class of the last draft notably stole the puck from forward Kevin Stenlund before beating Sergei Bobrovsky with a perfect shot up top in the first period.

Bedard has now scored seven goals in his last six appearances, including four goals in his last two games.

Jason Dickinson was the Blackhawks’ other scorer.

The Panthers face the Sharks on Tuesday in San Jose. Luke Richardson’s men will host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday.
