Samsung has confirmed that its second Unpacked event in 2023 will take place earlier than the previous ones. The brand’s new folding smartphones are particularly expected: the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Z Fold.
Through a press release that is no longer accessible, Samsung has lifted the veil on the new location that will host its next Unpacked event. Without giving a specific date, the company mentions a launch window for its Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5.
An event in late July, at home
Samsung has therefore announced that it will present “its next-generation folding devices” at an Unpacked event in Seoul at the end of July. It’s difficult to put it more clearly. No exact date has yet been communicated, but certain leaks already remind us of Wednesday 26 July. The information from Samsung confirms previous rumors about the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5.
Except for the first Galaxy Flip and Fold, the following models were always presented in August. Samsung also hints that the next Unpacked events could take place in a different city each time:

We take stock of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5
With competition in the folding smartphone space becoming increasingly fierce, Samsung is unlikely to rest on its laurels. The company is said to offer a new teardrop-shaped hinge for its Z Flip 5 and Fold 5 that allows for a completely flat closure. A technology already found on smartphones such as the Oppo Find N2 Flip or the Honor Magic Vs.
Other indiscretions refer to an IP58 certification to protect against water, but also against dust, which can quickly become the enemy of folding hinges. We also previously told you about the loading speed of the Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5, which looks disappointing.
Finally, it’s impossible to talk about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 without mentioning its external screen, which is likely to be much larger than that of its predecessor. A 3.4-inch panel is mentioned, versus 1.9-inches on the Galaxy Z Flip 4. A diagonal similar to that of the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra’s external screen at 3.6-inches.
Although Samsung has lost its edge in terms of design and hardware, the Korean company still has the edge in software, which is more advanced than what most of its competitors offer.
