Wendy Carranza was with little 15-month-old Liam in hopes of being reunited with her husband and eldest son. A group of assassins killed her in Mexico
Life photo of Wendy Carranza, the Honduran woman murdered in a criminal attack on a group of migrants in Sonora, Mexico.
In November 2023, Wendy's husband managed to emigrate to the USA with their eldest son.
The idea of the Reyes-Carranza house was always to be together, and so in early 2024 she started dating little Liam, the youngest in the house and barely 15 months old.
She “or wanted her house to be destroyed” and that’s why she made the trip, she exclusively told Diario La Prensa, a first for the Honduran.
“We didn't have enough time to be together. I will love you forever, my love. Half of my life has passed,” this message from Ever Reyes, Wendy’s husband, moved everyone and even the young mother.
“So God will come first… there are no impossible things for him, I love you very much,” Wendy replied to the message.
“This release is sad, she was so excited to arrive and be together with her family; That’s why she left,” the family member said.
Without knowing it, Evers' message was a farewell as tragedy would knock on the doors of this young family from Victoria, Yoro.
Mexican media reported that armed individuals attacked two vehicles carrying migrants traveling through Sonora, Mexico, on the night of Thursday, February 15. This is one of the vehicles.
At the time of the attack, a minor of Ecuadorian origin died and ten people were taken to hospital.
Wendy was seriously injured and on Saturday, February 17, Wendy's family in Tegucigalpita, Victoria, Yoro were informed that she had died.
Authorities also reported that little Liam was unharmed and was in the custody of Mexican prosecutors in Sonora.
Wendy was very popular. “She was a nice person. Here in the community she got along well with everyone and wherever she looked she started joking. She always said that the Carranza family was distinguished by the way they spoke. “He was such a helpful person…” his cousin complained.
Wendy's parents are in Tegucigalpa arranging for government assistance to repatriate her body.
Wendy's family also contributed to the funeral costs.
