The Henri Pick Mystery: A forgotten novel becomes a bestseller and stirs up a mystery
The plot begins with Daphé, a young talent scout who works for a major Parisian publishing house and discovers a masterpiece during a weekend spent with her unsuccessful writer friend at her father’s house in Bregagna. It seems his father has one Library with rejected books from publishers and here he finds a novel: It’s called The last hours of a love story the novel by Henri Pick which finds new life in his hands and so, thanks to his perseverance, is published and becomes one editorial case. However, when the woman tries to find out more, she is faced with a wall. The author owned a pizzeria in a small village, but died two years ago and no one, including his family, knew of his love of writing or even of the existence of a novel. In any case, “The Last Hours of a Love Story” becomes a bestseller and even makes it onto television.
It will be exactly that Literary critic Jean-Michel Rouche to become stubborn, knowing that this novel hides much more than it seems. First of all, he is convinced that it is not the work of Henri Pick. By upsetting the author’s family, who are present in the studio, the critic is also violating the production of the talk show, which will get him fired on the spot. But Jean-Michel Rouche is destined to do thorough research, and so, little daunted by the turn of events, he will begin to investigate like a perfect literary Sherlock Holmes. Will time prove him right? Is the work a literary forgery? The pizza maker’s daughter will help him.
