The surprising Hollywood superstar who has become obsessed with Neighbors and is “wetting herself” with excitement to see Guy Pearce return as heartthrob Mike Young
There’s one Hollywood superstar who can’t get enough of Neighbors and is disappointed that the show is ending this week.
Australian actor Guy Pearce has revealed his Mare of Easttown co-star Kate Winslet is an obsessive fan of the beloved soap and is “wetting herself with excitement” at seeing him reprise his role as motorcycling heartthrob Mike Young.
“Kate is a huge fan of the show,” the Hollywood star told Who Weekly.

Last month producers confirmed Guy, who first appeared on Ramsay Street in 1986, would be returning to Neighbors for Thursday night’s final episode.
“She (Kate) was doting on Mike at the time,” he continued.
“When I told her I was coming back, she was furious.”

Guy and Kate, 46, became friends after working on HBO’s Mildred Pearce in 2010. The stars reunited again in 2021 for the streaming giant’s hit series Mare of Easttown.
The down-to-earth star revealed elsewhere in the chat that he was just 18 and straight out of school when he filmed his first episode for the series in 1985.
Describing himself as “nostalgic”, Guy said he always wanted to return to Neighbors as an actor and that appearing on the show was “super lucky” for his career.

He now says he’s regularly hanging out with his ’80s Neighbors co-stars, including the show’s beloved couple Scott and Charlene – Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue.
“Jason and I see each other all the time, and we still call each other Scott and Mike, which is a bit sad!”
Neighbors was scrapped after UK broadcaster Channel 5 decided in March not to renew its deal with production company Fremantle to fund and broadcast the series.

Like Guy, Kylie and Jason have joined a long list of Neighbors stars who have been lured back for Thursday night’s 90-minute final episode.
Fans can look forward to seeing Margot Robbie, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Delta Goodrem, Jesse Spencer, Holly Valance, Carla Bonner, Natalie Imbruglia and Kym Valentine return for the finals.
Guy shot his emotional closing scenes with former co-stars Ian Smith, who played the legendary Harold Bishop, Henrietta Graham, Annie Jones and Peter O’Brien.
