"The Instructor Said Go, But He Was Angry With Another." Died At 25

It should be an unforgettable day. It turned into a tragedy. Yecenia Morales Gómez wanted to experience the thrill of bungee jumping with her boyfriend, but due to a misunderstanding with the instructor, she threw herself into the void before being tied to the rubber band. She died at the age of 25 after a 50 meter flight.

What happened

The 25-year-old and her boyfriend attended Sky Bungee Jumping Amaga in northern Colombia last July. It was the first experience of bunjee jumping. The girl was wearing the harness, but before she was tied to the rubber band, she threw herself 50 meters into the void. Guilty of a misunderstanding with the instructor which was fatal.

“She was confused,” Gustavo Guzmán, mayor of the Municipality of Fredonia, told El Tiempo, who commented on the incident. “The signal was for the fiancé because he was already attached to the security gear. They only put the dishes on her, so she got confused and threw herself down,” the mayor said.

The jump gave her no way out. Her boyfriend tried to revive her with a cardiopulmonary massage, but she was pronounced dead immediately. Sky Bungee Jumping said that “it’s not true that the girl misinterpreted the order,” leaving the investigation open.
