The interior of Windsor Castle is like the set of “I Love Lucy”, says the mother of Coronation concert star Katy Perry… …is that why Charles gave away the curtains?
As a “thank you” from King Charles for performing at his coronation concert, pop star Katy Perry and her mother spent two nights at Windsor Castle in May.
Perry was delighted with her “wild sleepover” at the royal residence, but the singer’s mother has now put a damper on the episode by comparing the interior of the 11th-century castle to the drab interior of a 1950s sitcom .
Mary Hudson described the interior as ’60s-esque I Love Lucy’ (although ‘I Love Lucy’, which starred Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, actually ran from 1951 to 1957).
Last night, a Hollywood source said: “I’m not sure the king will be thrilled when his castle is compared to Lucy’s, which is all nylon sofas, ruffled lampshades and questionable wallpaper.”
“The show’s decor is very dated and old-fashioned, which may mean Katy’s mother.”
