Ali Daei is considered to be the greatest player in Iran’s history
After the soccer pro was sentenced to death,

for protesting the death of a 22yearold, the Iranian government has become embroiled in another case relating to the positioning of a female athlete. This time it’s about the former player Ali Daei.
Ali Daei, who had also taken a stand against the young woman’s death, issued a ban on leaving the country for his family. According to the local press, the Iranian authorities ordered that the flight from Tehran (capital of Iran) to Dubai (Qatar), on which Daei’s wife and daughter were, was diverted to Kish Island. The complaint was made by the former player himself.

“They were not arrested, but no one explained to me what happened to me. I don’t know the reason for this decision. My wife and daughter wanted to spend a few days in Dubai,” he said.
Ali Daei had shown support for women in his country during protests over the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22yearold woman who was executed for allegedly wearing the hijab inappropriately. The former player shared a publication related to the Free your Hair movement on his social networks, saying that he “would always be on their side”.
As the secondbest goalscorer in the history of national football (109 goals in 149 games), surpassed only by Cristiano Ronaldo, Ali Daei is considered the best player in the history of Iran.
Alongside his family’s travel ban, the Iranian soccer star had his passport confiscated and two of his establishments closed by local authorities for his “boldness”.
