The Islanders pick up Robert Bortuzzo

The New York Islanders acquired St. Louis Blues defenseman Robert Bortuzzo on Friday in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2024 draft.

This ends a long association between the full-back and the Blues. The 34-year-old veteran has worn the Missouri club colors since March 2015. He also won the Stanley Cup with this organization in 2019.

Bortuzzo has only played four games so far this year and has not scored any points.

The Ontario native was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the third round (78th overall) of the 2007 amateur auction. He played his first six professional campaigns in this organization. The Pens traded him to the Blues in March 2015 for Ian Cole.
