The Israeli government’s surprising reversal

Benjamin Netanyahu, a friend of the criminal dictator Putin and former US President Donald Trump, a well-known coup plotter, is back thanks to the voices of the extreme right that couldn’t be more extreme. But what will happen in the Jewish state is a mystery

Antonio Ferrari / Corriere TV

It’s a world that’s really running backwards. Used stubbornly against those who believe in peace and progress, it strengthens the front of the intransigent (often violent) and increases surprises. For example, I never thought that Benjamin Netaniahu, ally and friend of that criminal dictator of Vladimir Putin and that putschist of Donald Trump, would return to the top of Israel. With a majority backed by an extreme right that couldn’t be more extreme, Bibi is back and it really is an insult to Israel, a country I’ve always loved where the real majority expresses the people, pride , tolerant, liberal and eager for Pace Vera. I’ve known Bibi for decades, but we all know him. Confused, unpresentable, most of all in love with himself, a thousand miles from the feel of home. A true political acrobat, capable of anything. Israel’s vote and the calculations that have favored it are proof that we are no longer able to fully comprehend and comprehend this crazy world where it is not the one who knows how to argue that wins, but whoever has the greatest Manipulation shoots, wins. Bibi won, but not sure if she can rule Israel. It is also true that, as our eminent Jerusalem correspondent Davide Frattini wrote in Corriere della Sera, she is trying to sidestep even a centrist party to soften and soften her position. But in international politics he is certainly a loser. American President Joe Biden can’t stand him because he knows that he is against the solution of the two states of Israel and Palestine living side by side in peace and security and respecting each other. It is clear that Bibi cannot boycott the peace deal with Lebanon, which has been forcibly enforced at sea borders thanks to the discovery of the world’s largest gas field in the eastern Mediterranean. Nor can she oppose international agreements to support and protect Ukraine from brutal aggression by Putin’s Russian Federation. Above all, however, he will have to work to allay the fears of a country that has never really understood Bibi. Israel is a democratic pearl in the Middle East, and in the end it will either change or be forced to leave.
