The New York Jets considered acquiring the services of quarterback Matthew Stafford from the Los Angeles Rams last offseason.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, negotiations to acquire Aaron Rodgers took longer than expected and the Jets were desperate for a quarterback.

New York didn’t know Rodgers’ intentions. It wasn’t until March that he finally expressed his desire to join the Jets.
As for Stafford, the Rams would have refused to part ways with their key pivot.
According to the same source, several teams in the Goodell circuit called the Rams to sign the 35-year-old athlete.
Due to some injuries, Stafford only played nine games last season. He suffered an elbow injury and a concussion.
